Aarik Wilson, a ten-time All-American at Indiana, had the third best mark in the qualifying round at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials on July 4. His mark of 16.62m (54-6.5) was just 22 centimeters shy of the top jump, which was recorded by Walter Davis.
Wilson's jump advances him to the finals, where he will be joined by Hoosier standout Kyle Jenkins, who took the final qualifying position with his jump of 15.96m (52-4.5).

David Neville qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on July 3, finishing third in finals of the 400m dash at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials. Neville is the first male former Hoosier to qualify for the Olympics since 1996, when Bob Kennedy and Jim Spivey both qualified in the 5,000m run.
